If Lex was a cocktail, her ingredients would feature one part distinguished taste, one part undeniable charisma and a dash of universal adoration. The Newcastle bred, Eora/Sydney established and Naarm/Melbourne based DJ, radio host and producer is one of the most developed names in Australian underground dance music and is now entering a new era of original music, ready to propel her to the upper echelons of electronic music prestige.
Dance music caliber traditionally manifests over years of experience and Lex’s musical journey follows this pattern. Learning her trade playing in a little pub in Sydney, she grew her talent of soundtracking nights, dipping into her eclectic playlisting of old funk and bizarre disco. This passion quickly caught the eye of artists and industry alike, transferring quickly to the club world. As her soundtracking journey began, she quickly spread her wings across the country, performing national tours at club nights, and festivals including Lost Paradise, Falls Festival, Output, Yours & Owls, Groovin The Moo, Two/4 Festival and Splendour in the Grass.
Following years of grinding as a support act for some of the best DJs in the world, including Omar S, Willaris K, Baba Stiltz, DJ Boring, Brame & Hamo and Peggy Gou, the past two years has seen her move up the bill to one of the most in demand local acts in the country, most recently performing to a sold out Oxford Art Factory. Naturally, she’s also hosted mixes for the likes of Rinse FM, Triple J and FBi Radio, and host’s the most popular show on community radio station Nomad Radio, Club Ex Ex.
Now, her focus turns from facilitating parties for thousands of punters across the country, to establishing a truly singular sonic imprint in the form of her original music. Enter Lex’s first official release ‘Butterfly Moon Party’. A debut that sets no limitation of where her musical journey will lead to. A balance of euphoric synth work, gritty breaks and dubby basslines accumulates in a diverse and truly unique sonic landscape. It's an optimistic aural dream with a slice of confidence and attitude, giving a sense that she has paid her dues in the studio over the last few years.
With the news of her debut EP and a national tour imminent, the stage is set for Lex and her new era as a producer.
